Y3 WEEKLY HOMEWORK

Dear Parents

All classes throughout the school follow the same homework routine which consists of:

Reading

Spellings

One other activity occasionally

We use Purple Mash for online home learning.

Homework will be set on Purple Mash each Monday and should be completed by the following Monday.  All homework set is consolidation of previous learning.  If your child wishes to complete more homework than has been set, there are ample games and resources on Purple Mash for them to choose.  Please see the attached letter about homework in the files section.

Thank you.

READING:

Please see the attached letter about Y3 reading.

SPELLINGS:

Each week, your child will be set a spelling activity on Purple Mash.   They will also be given a paper copy of these spellings every Monday to learn and will be tested on them the following Monday.  THE PAPER COPY DOES NOT NEED TO BE RETURNED TO SCHOOL.

ONE OTHER ACTIVITY:

There will be one additional piece of homework from time to time.  This can be on different subjects.  It will usually be set on Purple Mash as the spellings are but occasionally it may be different.

Y3 READING LIST

Below is a really useful link that suggess texts for Y3.  The Y3 texts are mostly books with short chapters.  For longer more challenging reads you can follow the reading list suggestions for Y4 or Y5 also found on this page.

MULTIPLICATION AND DIVISION FACTS:

The children are asked to learn multiplication and division facts as part of their homework and we test on a Friday each week.  We are hoping to purchase a fabulous online resource to help with this learning at home.  In the meantime,  the following website is very useful and if you wish, your child may access it at any time to practise their multiplication and division facts.

PURPLE MASH

Your child has been given login details for purple mash along with parent login details.  They need to access this in order to complete homework that has been set.

If you have any queries regarding  Purple Mash logins or other homework queries, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Thank you for your support.

Best wishes

Mrs Houghton
