Sports Premium

What is the Sports Premium? The Department for Education will continue to fund the PE and Sport Premium for the academic year 2019/20. A total of £320 million will be made available to primary schools in England to continue to improve the quality of PE and Sport. Each school will receive funding based on pupil numbers in Years 1 to 6. In the academicyear 2019-2020 we estimate that will receive £17790 sports premium funding.

How will we use the funding? The PE and Sports Premium grant will be used in a number of ways to impact on pupil attainment and healthy lifestyles.

  • Hiring specialist PE teachers to work alongside our  teachers
  • CPD for teachers and the P.E. subject lead
  • Running sports competitions with local cluster schools to increase participation
  • Providing places for pupils on after school clubs
  • Purchase of new resources and equipment such as dance schemes and gymnastics equipment.
  • Purchase of class sets of football, rugby balls and softballs so all children can be actively engaged for a substantial time during lessons
  • Playground improvements to raise the levels of physical activity amongst pupils.

The governors and staff agree that the money must be used so that all children benefit regardless of their sporting ability. It is important this funding opportunity is used appropriately so that when it ends we have a legacy that can continue for future years. Our school places a high priority on our PE provision and as such, has invested in additional coaching and resources to further enhance the curriculum, PE and extra-curricular and competitive sports.

We would love to hear from you
